My dosing routine... thoughts?

Hi I have been working with Rex on getting a dosing routine together and here is what we have come up with... Of course I have no idea what Im doing and as usual have a lot of questions.

Set-up: 55Gal tank, 260W of CF Coralife freshwater light, CO2 pressurized set-up to run when lights are on, ehime 2217 canister filter, eco-complete...

Water: Only have access to rain water, which is pure and very soft...

Dosing Routine: (If I got it right.....)

With the substrate and rocks, wood, I'd say I have about 45 to 50 gl of water. right?

Day 1: to get my KH to 4 and GH to 5: Dose 3tsp. of Baking Soda
Dose 20g of Cal Chloride
Dose 8.25g of Epsom Salts
Ferts: 2.75g of KNO3 to get 10ppm of NO3
.25g of KH2PO4 to get 1ppm of PO4
1 teasp. of K2SO4 to get 20 ppm

Day 2: 10ml of Plantex CSM+B (2Tablespoons mixed with 500ml H20 solution)

Day 3: Follow day 1 of dosing Ferts: using the same amounts? or should be
using less?

Day 4: same as day 2: exact amounts

Day 5: Same as day 1: exact amounts? less?

Day 6: same as day 2

Day 7: 50% water change... redose GH and KH for the added 22 or so gal. so approx half of the full strenght that I listed above?

Also on day 7 am I not dosing ferts?

Hope this all makes sense?

Thanks Rex for all your help!!!!!!!!!!

If you worked with Rex, I like it !

I have a 46g and my CSM+B mix and dosing is the same. At the to the other nutrients, I can't convert from tsp to grams in my head, so I can't specifically say. My NO3 and PO4 targets are 2x yours, but both targets work fine if you are consistent with the dosing and WCs.

Looks like a solid plan to me!

IMO, The only way that you will know whether you are using too much is to use test kits for the first few weeks. If you are not using enough, your plants will tell you by turning their leaves yellow. Once you get into a routine, you don't have to use test kits as often.

I've just started about 2 weeks ago a very similar schedule and have been very happy with the results. The only changes I would make is to do your water change on Day 1 or when you are doing your full dose of ferts. As for if you need to do the full doses of your ferts on the other days I would say you need to test the first few weeks to see what they are using. (After having said this I don't test my water yet. I just use half doses every other day. I will be upgrading my lights soon and will start testing then.)

I dont know if I would add that all at once with fish in the tank, the KH will also effect the PH in the tank and that could stress out and kill any fish. I dose 1/4-1/2 tsp. in my 55 gallon until I get the KH to where I want it
