Identify this plant pls?



I don't know what the spikey foreground plant is. (it's also in the background on the left, the leaves are much much longer and not nearly as dense)

Can anyone identify it?

Well it really looks like Mondo grass to me. If that's correct then it's not an aqatic plant.

(i think Petsmart carries this as "Green Mondo Grass")

and what would happen if I just left it in there?

I swear that Mondo Grass is Petsmart's best selling plant. I think it can be used as a garden plant.

I bought some of this same plant from a local Petsmart. It never grew in an inch but stayed green for months. When I finally id'd it from one of the books I have as a non aquatic plant I took it out and the roots had not even grown any. I'm assuming Petsmart intentionally sells these because it will take them along time to eventually melt away.

i guess it's a pretty hardy plant. I got the longer ones from an LFS. shame on them.
