Need help with my plants!!!!!!!!!!

I need help with my plants. I saw how beautiful your tanks are and I don't know what I am doing wrong. I have a 55gal tank with 6500K coralife 2 bulbs at 65w each. I have a co2 unit where you mix water with sugar and add some pockets that came with the unit but I don't know if it is working or not because it was suppose to make some bubbles but I don't see them in the tank. I do a weekly water changes with an aged top water. I don't know if I am not adding enough iron or other elements or what. I have few swords. They looked beautiful when I got them but now the new leafs they grow are short and narrow. They have some red lines on them and they don't even look like swords plants anymore. Now another problem is that alges are taking over my tank. First it was brown and now green. I have 6 discus in my tank. Please help me. Thank you.!!!!!!!!!!

Take a few minutes and read my Guide.

Then tell us how long the tank has been set up. Also a sugar based CO2 system, while possible on a 55 gallon tank is a LOT of work and will require a mix far larger than what your store bought system has.

It's possible that your sword plants are making the transition from emerged growth to submerged growth.
