jelly-like thing on my red lotus - what is it?

I noticed these a couple of days ago and didn't think much of it. I was curious but thought it may go away. I saw another one today and now I'm sort of apprehensive as to what it may be. It looks like a slug or a snail related jelly matter, but not sure. Anyone know what this is?

It peels off the lotus like a sticker. It's clear.

On the lotus, it's right above the green holes..top middle by the water surface

No they aren't harmful, but they are annoying once they hatch

Eggs of pond snails. See the tiny white specks in the gel?

As for the hole in the leaf, many snails do not have a strong enough tongue to start a hole, but if the leaf tissue is soft for any reason (fertilizer deficiency, injury) then the snails can get started eating it.
