How do you keep track of your plants?

Hi all. I've been keeping planted tanks for just about 3 years now, I think. In that time I've shifted in and out of being really focused on it. As a result of that plus my general lack of organizational skills, I have trouble keeping track of what plants I have.

I'm looking to hear from any of you about how you keep track of your plants?

I wish I could just remember their names. I can't really remember... anything. So that doesn't seem to work for me. The word document idea sounds like a great idea. I often take pictures when I get them thinking I'll do something like that, but then I don't do anything like that.

does anybody label their tanks in any way?

Create a journal and use it for a reference.
I have all my plants and equipment listed on page 3 of my journal if anything changes I just go in and edit that page.
I use to do the note book with pics and names. I gave up on that after I lost my book. I haven't lost my journal yet.

I use my journal mostly and a boring journal of emails I send to myself about what goes on in my tank but the Tank Tracker at the top of the forum is really your best bet.

I tend to research and study every plant I am interested in before I get it, so I know each plant in my tank very well by the time I actually get it. With all the research I do, I end up knowing which ones I have just by looking at the tank. I also keep a document with the names of all the plant species I currently have, the ones I want to get, and the ones I have had in the past.
