First Planted Tank

Hi there! I just wanted to share my first planted tank. It is low tech aga 29 with DIY CO2. I just planted it 2 days ago, and put a school of neons and 3 Otos in yesterday. Here's a couple shots:

Freshly scaped with Flourite dark, then Flourite black, then Flourite black sand.

Plants and fish added!

View from my couch

And one of my office pico reef for fun

Thanks for looking guys! I'm excited to play with this thing!

Welcome! Very nice start! I love neons - your school looks especially nice.

I would move the plants on the far right in with the plants on the left...they look a bit lost over there They'd also give a nice bit of color among all those greens on that side. They will get tall, so they could be towards the back - maybe all the way to the left? Same with the green plant at the edge of the left plant cluster (bacopa?)...I'd put him in the corner, to hide the heater and filter intake

Just suggestions though, your tank looks great with nice, healthy plants and fish. If you're happy with it (and that really is all that matters), don't touch a thing!

Love your little reef...my new one is my pride and joy!

I see some anubias , java fern and petites. Make sure you don't plant the rhizomes into the substrates. The rhizomes have to be above substrate level. Nice and healthy tank otherwise.

I think I might do that, I was hoping the weak looking balansae I have in that corner would fill it in eventually thought. But if not then I just might do that!

How many neons are there? I'm counting about 20.

Thanks Woody, I love my little pico. Its just under 8 gallons total volume. I love acan also and designed it around them.

I used to have a nice SPS setup, top of the line equipment, it just got to be too time consuming, and I work so much I didnt get to enjoy it. Sooo the solution was obviously to set up a low maintenance pico at work lol.

Not too sure why people say neons are hard to keep Alive when introducing to a new tank. I dropped 25 in there and didn't lose one..

Thank you fishboy.

Here is a question for everyone. The "dwarf" sagitarria I have in there has literally doubled in size since I set up the tank. The leaves are now folded over the surface of the water. I put them in the midground thinking dwarf must mean small. I guess I was wrong. Can anyone help me out with this? Will they grow smaller if I trim them, or should I just move them to the back.

Dont get me wrong I love them but they are going to outgrow my tank if they keep going at this rate!

EDIT: It also looks alot different than pictures I have seen on here. The "blades" are much thicker, and club shaped if that makes sense. do I have something else?
