Planted tanks have me looking at weeds a little differently...

I was pulling some broad smooth-leaf weeds along the yard, when I realized that if this thing grew underwater I would probably pay for it by the stem

I do that too. I walk/run along a river and see some cool plants on the banks and I think, man that would look good in my tank.

I actually consider "Grass" weeds because technically they're an invasive from europe and then I consider weeds plants :P

My office sits beside a creek and my office complex has waterfalls, ponds, and streams all over it. At the traffic light leading into the office park is a sunken median that always stays wet, and it is absolutely covered with spike rush (eleocharis). They mow it once a week, and it just bounces back more beautiful than ever. It's an amazing stand.

Edit: Amazing, you can actually see it as a dark band in the Arrowood Rd median in Google Maps. :-)
