Eheim 2215 in a 30 gal

My uncle has a very old Eheim 2215, I'm not sure this thing will even work. Is this too much filter for my 30g long? I think I would prefer the spray bar and extra flow as compared to my hob.

Tank 30g Long
Lights 36in Coralife T5 2 21 watt 6700K/Colormax
Filter AquaClear 50
Substrate Gravel
Ferts Florish

2217!? damn!

and I though that was too much for my 55g... do you have some type of filter on the suction side to reduce flow?

i have a fluval sponge pre-filter, but added it only recently because I started breeding shrimp. I also have the outlet hose running through a CO2 reactor, which might slow it down a bit. Also used to have an inline heater but took it off because there were too many things slowing down the flow.

I am running the same filter as you 2215 on a shrimp only tank that is 20 gal long. I also have a aquaclear 20 on that tank as back up. No such thing as too much filtration it is true.

I was hoping for two things, one was someone would say this and the other is that this filter actually works. It's been out of commision for a long time now and I have my fingers crossed before I get my wallet ready.
