Ideas needed to contain media in sump.

I have a ton of the following media in my sump, the problem is it moves all over the place in the chambers or from one chamber to the next, as it goes under the baffle and I like to keep it in one chamber. Some of it small, so egg crate not going to cut it. Only option I was thinking are mesh bags, which I would have to buy a ton as I don't think they make them very big. The bio rings are larger, if I could find some type of bag to contain them I could put those on the bottom so the rest would not move to the next champer.

Sew up your own bags? Use onion or potato plastic mesh bags? If you could find a mesh laundry bag without a zipper that could work. I need to make something for my scrubbies. They aren't that small but it is irritating having to round them up when I clean the sponges.

Kathyy pretty much nailed it!!

1+ on produce bags, free with your fruit & veggies and they are great media bags and can also be used as scrubbers for cleaning. Mesh laundry bags rate great also.

Thanks all for the advise, I went with the mesh lingerie bags, they are the perfect size. Though I think the lady checking me out was looking at me funny as to why is this guy buying all these lingerie bags.

Ditto again!
I have used bags from most sorts of produce, and they hang in there really well. Some are pretty stiff, so will not accommodate small spaces, but most will work just fine. Zip tie them together. You can rinse the media while it is still in that bag, too.

Nylon stockings work well for the finest media, and also hold up really well. I use rubber bands for media that needs to be replaced (peat moss). Rubber bands deteriorate. When they break, I know I should have replaced the media. Zip ties work great for permanent media.

Strawberry baskets might be another media tray type of thing. They are flimsy, but could be informally stacked.

There is a thread here that includes some small stacking drawers as media trays. The person drilled lots of holes in the lid and bottoms of all the drawers so the water passes through, but the holes are fine enough to contain the media.

Maybe a bit late, but here goes anyway.

Try the brew supply stores, they sell large mesh bags as well. I see them and always start the gears in my head while I'm down there getting my co2 tank filled.

Hello guys I make use of lingerie bag with detergent for washing my clothes. I think it is perfect to use lingerie bag as protective cover and to gain effective washing
