Help with anaerobes

So while cleaning my tank today i pushed down on the substrate and it released sulfur smelling gas. What is this? Is it bad? and what should i do about it. My substrate consist of organic choice soil capped with black fluorite. It is a 30 gal with only 10 cardinals in it so far only been set up about 5 weeks.

Small areas or along the bottom of the tank are not a problem.
Watch for mounding from trapped gas that gather in pockets causing the cap to bulge or mound up. Use tweezers or anything you like to poke around releasing the gas if you see a build up poke it! Lots of plants being included right from the start help reduce this. Do a little poking here and there and the plants should do the rest.
