Question New 40 gallon breeder

I just recently purchased a 40 GBR during the last petco dollar sale and had a few questions you guys might be able to help me with.

-I was thinking about going for the fluval stratum but needed to know how much to buy to cover about an inch in depth....any ideas?

-any suggestions on which filter? I was thinking the fluval 306 with the optional spray bar.

-will the 36" finnex ray2 provide good enough lighting for an HC carpet to spread? The marineland aquatic led LOOKS good but way too pricey!

-Lastly, where can I get a decent priced stand that doesn't look like a junior high woodshop project?

I appreciate the help.

1. Substrate calculatorhttps://www.plantedtank.net/substratecalculator.html

2. Yes go with a 306. Fluval is my personal choice

3. Do more reading and research to determine your desired lighting. IF you decide on a high light set-up Pressurized Co2 is an absolute must.

4. Get ahold of your local cabinet shops and have them make you a stand.
