Java fern question

I was wondering for java ferns, do you guys pull off the child plants or do you let them fall off by itself? I have a narrow leaf java that has 5 childs on it that are growing large but not detaching itself so it's looking messy.

I just let them fall off cause I'm too lazy to pull them off.
