Is this the work of a snail, or nutrient deficiency?

I noticed some leaves on my Rotala look chewed up. I do have a big snail that came with my last batch of plants. I've never had this type of snail, so I'm not sure if they can do damage. Or is it a nutrient deficiency? I have 40W CF over a 10 gal, but I do dose CO2 (pressurized) and ferts religiously.
