Normally runs in what way? As in, how does the filtration function? Or, how are they as planted tanks?

There are several different sizes of eclipse tanks, and the lighting in them varies. Could you provide a link to exactly which one it is?

Standard 10 Gallon (20 x12x12).
Low tech, Sand substrate.
Eheim 2211, and Aqueon Quietflow 10.
Finnex Stingray LED, 20" above substrate
2 Anubias Nana Petite, Christmas moss.
4 Halequin Rasborahs, 5 RCS.

I had the system one on a 12 gallon for a long time. It was easy to maintain, looks really pretty, didn't grow plants well. It could do java ferns, some crypts, and anubias alright. But that was really about it.

That being said, my eclipse was manufactured about 14 years ago, so I'm not sure if they're still made with the piddly lighting that they used to be. However, I wouldn't expect much in the way of plants.

I believe that an Eclipse II is 24" long and it is built for a 24" x 12" aquarium like a 20g or 25g. I think that it contains twin T8 fluorescent bulbs. I don't remember if the fluorescent bulbs are 18" long or 22" long. It can be used as a planted tank with the correct bulbs.
