new lake Tanganyika tank

just added fish to my new tank thats right next to the computer moniter its got white substrate pebbles and java fern. I can't write this post very quickly because my eyes keep getting drawn away to the left to see one of the shell dwellers poke out its nose or my lelupi atacking me through the glass.

If you haven't tried cichlids before because you generally (like me) stick to comunity fish the I urge you to try it because they are all such charecters

Im just now starting a tanganyikan tank as well.. Im keeping multis and julis in a 55 gallon

I have a mountain of lavarock and featherock on the left that tapers down till it hits just right of the center, then goes into a sand feild for the shelldwellers.

it should be very interesting!

i have been dreaming of a tang. tank for months now, and i've decided that after my mbunas are gone, my 55 gallon will be full of the little shell dwellers... i hope that its no time very soon, because my mbunas are the most "petlike" of my fish, and I would hate to lose any of them (by the way, they're HARDCORE hardy... haven't lost one in I don't know how long... and only 2 ever). temp changes, water param changes, agression, etc... nothing gets to em. only problem is that the species that are available around here get too big for a 55 (unless you only want to keep a couple... no fun) ie: bumblebees, orange zebras, etc. my bumblebee has got to be a couple of pounds at least... maybe more. he's about the mass of a coke can; solid muscle. i think some dwarf shellies would make a very fun 55... especially because of the large horizontal viewing area.
