Ackkkk... Need Suggestions for Background Plants

I SO need advice! I'm getting ready to start my 46 gallon bowfront and I'm new to planted tanks. I am trying to plan out what plants to start with and I'm really having a hard time figuring out what background plants to use. I was looking at swords, but everyone warns about their growth rate and size, so I'm unsure. Any suggestions for a newbie on taller plants that fit well in the back of the aquarium and are on the easier side of keeping for a plant newbie?

I love my Caroline Cabomba. If you have the right lighting, it grows fast and is super tall. I pull it out when it gets too tall and trim it down and replug it in and it grows right back. I usually do individual stalks (not bunches) and the fish love it. I also like rotala.

From what I can figure out, I have low to medium lighting. Two T5HO and two T8 lights equaling out to about 2.78... watts per gallon.

Is your tank about 22" high?

What specific light fixtures are you using - including their length and number of bulbs? How far apart are the fixtures? Are they resting on the top of the tank or are they suspended in the air?

That information will help determine what you can grow and whether or not you're risking an algae farm.

Be sure to check out the lighting stickies in the Lighting section, as Watts Per Gallon isn't helpful these days. It's PAR data that counts.

Ludwigia arcuata is one of my favorites because it will grow in just about any conditions. It's a super easy beginner plant that's also very pretty.

Vallisneria nana, Rotala Wallichii, Rotala sp. colorata, Mayaca fluviatilis, Hygrophila polysperma sunset, Hygrophila corymbosa angustifolia, Aponogeton crispus, I have all of these in my 150 and the get tall enough to give some background without being to wide like the swords would be.
