Newcomer to planted tanks.

So I am new to all of this, I have a 20 Gallon tank that my turtles no longer need because they've been upgraded. So with that 20 Gallon i want to make a planted tank.

Welcome to the forum! I use fluval plant stratum but can't really speak on how good it is since I have had good luck and bad luck. The bad luck with it more than likely being my fault. If you do a quick search you can read of other's experiences with the fluval plant stratum. I strongly prefer ADA aquasoil just because it is very nutrient rich and I have seen really good growth and rooting in it. The fired clay is going to be like flourite or eco-complete. It doesn't initially have any nutrient capabilities but it holds and takes in nutrients that can be released to the plants.
