Weird Worms?

I received some plants from a friend today for my new guppy tank and they have tons of little red/purple worms in them. TONS. Here's just from a couple of plants, and this is only what came off...

What are they? Are they safe to put in my tank? How do I kill them?

These really creeped me out. I soaked the plants in tap for a few hours and they died, then I stuck the plants in another container of treated tap to make sure any eggs hatch and I can get rid of those too. I don't want these in my tank, even though they may be good. They could be tubifex worms, but I have no clue really. They look darker than those. I don't know though, new to this.

Forgive me if I did something ignorant. I just don't like creepy crawly things lol.

Nope, not that dark. I don't know. I'll have to contact the person who sent them, but some genius banned me from the forum because they thought I was "lying"... So I can't ask the person who sent them for another week or so.

Have a few questions...

I put the plants in tapwater just now to kill off anything else on them... Will this hurt the plants?

If the worms laid eggs on the plants, how long would it take for them to hatch? Or would they die? How do I know when I can add the plants to the tank without transferring worm cysts?

Thanks!

You could do a bleach dip if the plants aren't sensitive ones. I did it with HC one time and melted all the leaves, but all my other plants have been fine. I think the concentration is supposed to be 1:20, but I usually just eyeball it.

Okay, I'll try a bleach dip. Not sure if these plants are sensitive. They are very fluffy, if you know what I'm talking about. They have thick stems. Not sure if the hair-like fluffiness could take bleach.
