Advice on Tank Nuke

I have a 4 gallon Finnex which has black aglae on most of the plants for the past 6 months or so. I've tried doing several 3 day black outs, dosing hydrogen peroxide, extra dosign excel, and adjusting the light height and duration. It's only a 9watt light, had a 13watt light but it broke. Also recently got limpets everywhere. So I'm hoping a nuke will solve both these problems.

Tried searching threads about a tank nuke, I see it's hydrogen peroxide or bleach. I rather do HP. I currently have 2 fish and 4 shrimp in there. I plan on taking them out for a few days. Lower the water to plant height. Then just use a serious amount of HP into the tank. Should that do it? Should I do HP and excel? Do I need to take all the plants out indivdually for a cleaning?

Afterwards, a few cycles of fresh water. And then a day or two to settle, then reintroduce the fish/shrimp.

Sounds like you could use a complete redo. Make a temporary home for the fish that is suitable for a few weeks then toss out the whole tank, use new gravel, plants, etc. Don't let it reach that stage of nasty black algae next time around

If HP kills off everything won't your tank need to re-cycle? It's more then likely going to kill everything anyway I would just pull everything and resetup the tank.

I vote for completely redoing it if you are already going that far.

You probably do not have to do it. But you are going to do enough to where it probably is worth the slightly extra effort to go all the way. Think of it as an opportunity to rescape, try something new or do something you did not do before.
