Hi Muscelcar67,

Yes, the PH test kit has the bromothymol blue.

I use my API KH test kit to verify my 4.0 dKH distilled water +baking soda mix.

The KH test kit contains the reagent needed to measure KH. It doesn't contain any standard KH solution. You can use the test kit to make your own 4 dKH solution, by starting with distilled water and adding a very tiny amount of baking soda to some of it. Then diluting further until it takes 4 drops of test reagent to make the water in the test tube change color. That is accurate enough for what the drop checker is supposed to do.

Maybe I wrote it poorly. The test kit does contain the bromothymol blue.

Thanks everyone for the quick reply. So I decided to get a bottle of distilled water and make my 4kdh solution like hoppy suggested. So keep adding regular bakingsoda to the water untill the kit reads 4deg consistantly? sounds simple.
Thanks !

Hi Musclecar67,

It doesn't take much, about 0.08 level teaspoon (1/12th tsp) baking soda per gallon of distilled water.
