Question Surface Skimmers?

Would a surface skimmer attached to the inlet of a canister filter such as:

be beneficial for oxygen exchange in the water in a 75 gallon heavily planted CO2 infused tank?

Or would it be a bad idea?

I am just thinking about all those leaves I get floating on the surface getting sucked in along with long plants like vals and swords.

I used one for years and they work well although you will have to remove leaves from it. If you're plants are healthy and not dropping leaves right and left it's no big deal. Skimming the surface always aids in oxygenation.
