switching from 10G to 40B

came across another 40B the other day and was wondering how well transferring literally everything from the 10G to the 40B and filling up with 30G of fresh water. Would it go through a massive cycle?

No. As water has virtually no beneficial bacteria in it. All the bacteria colonizes on all the surfaces of your tank, hardscape, plants, glass etc. As long as you don't let things dry out, you're fine. You'll want to add more substrate as well.

When you're adding your 30G of water, try and make it as close as your tank water as possible so the livestock aren't shocked when they're transferred

Just to be on the safe side, don't feed anything for a good 4-5 days to let everything settle down.
