Rotala rotundifolia to look like this?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x2vLJ_vCspk
Saw this on youtube and really liked it. Is it easy (or at least not particularly difficult) to get the rotala rotundifolia to look like to does in the back? It doesnt look super bushy like some plants do and I like the way it forms a sort of canopy over the hairgrass. And what kind of wood do you think that is? It reminds me of an old dead tree that fell apart and the grassland took it over. I'd like to make something similar in my new 75.

If you trim it it branches out and forms more of a bush and you can replant the trimmings in order to make it denser. That is what it looks like they did.

+1 and a nice tank.

The circulation can be tricky with Rotala planted so densely. Rotala is also super good at growing a ton of roots from the leaf nodes, making that stand of plants even more dense. The light penetration is also a challenge - I would guess that all the plants in the middle have very few, if any leaves ~2" from the top. This is where the stem spacing and trimming can make or break that layout.

Go for it!
