Dimmed the lighting

So decided to dim the lighting down some in my tank to make it more like what discus and Dario loach would be more accustomed to.

How's it look?

After

Looks good, has a more natural feel to it! Should help demote algae growth as well.

I am hoping it helps with the algea to!

It was actually pretty easy cause I didn't have a dimmer, so I took the splash guard (which hasn't been on it) and put a very light coat of VHT translucent black paint on it, same stuff you use to black out taillights on a car :-)

Hope the fish appreciate it!

Interesting, I was kinda wondering how you dimmed it but figd you just switch or took out a bulb. Worked pretty well!

lol i did tha with an old coralife fixture. i jus used regular black paint and misted it very finely

that looks great though!!
one thing u will have to do is cut out old leaves more often as they will be more prone to the plant rejecting them for new growth as they may not provide as much gowth potential

Great idea! I used a screen to dim mine but the screen is not all that visually apealing.

*60g
*Substrate = 50% Florite sand 50% regular Florite
*Lighting 108W of a 216W T5HO Aquatic Life hood 25" from substrate 8.5 hours daily.
*Amarath Redroot, Waterhyssop, Brazilian Pennywort, Water Wisteria, Jungle Val, Moss Ball, Riccia, Nana, Java Lace, Cryptocoryne, Pigmy Chain Sword.
