Inconsistent co2 measurements

Awhile back I tried DIY co2 on my tank. I bought a drop checker, and with the DIY co2, the drop checker would turn green and my pH would drop from 7.8 to about 6.8-7.0.

I just upgraded to pressurized and now my pH has dropped to 6.6, but the drop checker is still blue. I tried changing out the fluid, and have waited hours for the reaction, but it's still blue.

How am I supposed to know what my co2 level is?

Are you using standard 4 dKH water in the drop checker? That is distilled water with nothing mixed in except sodium bicarbonate to raise the KH to 4 degrees. And, to that do you add 2-3 drops of API pH reagent, or an equivalent pH reagent? If so, the drop checker will work. If it doesn't work, one of those two things isn't being done. It is too simple a device to have failure modes.

I'm doing both of those things, but if the drop checker is right, then why on earth is my ph dropping so much?

Oh wow. I just did some kh testing. My tank's kh was only 2. It's usually 4. So then I went and tested the tap water and it's kh was only 2. So my normal pH may be completely different now since apparently my water supply has changed. I'll have to leave some water out and find out what my new normal pH is.

Is such a low kh a problem?
