I think my axolotle is morphing!

I know tho probably not the best forum for this but it's the best one I'm currently a member of and I need help now.
I recently moved my axo from a 15g long to a 26g riparium( it only has 15 gallons in it. I moved all of his substrate wood and plants into the new tank. I set up a diy canister filter and used his old filter media in it I also let the tank cycled for a week before I put his stuff and him in
He has been in the tank for three weeks, I did one wc last weekend
Today I fed him a chunk of frozen bloodworms(like I do everyday) and he spit them back up.hes never done that. I took a closer look at him and it seems his tail is getting a darker color to it(he is a pink albino) his tail seem to be almost red he has not lost his dorsal find hi gills look different? Maybe?. He also seems to be spending a little more time near the surface and seems a bit more active
I Checked his levels , his ph is at 7 ammonia is at 1.0 nitrites and nitrates are 0
I did a 50% water change just a minute ago I plan on doing 25% daily until this is fixed
Is there anything I should do if he actually is morphing

Here are a few pics in his old tank and some I just took in his new setup

This one was taken last weekend

And these were both just taken tonight

There are 2 types of people on this forum. Those that have algae, and those that lie and say they don't.

I have no idea bout these creatures, but I imagine that ammonia isn't doing him any good at all. Can you use Prime in the tank to help out with that?

Here's a forum specific to these, might find some good help there.
