No algae?

I have my light on 10 hours a day.

The other tanks in the house grow algae on the glass, etc and the snails and shrimps have a good time with that.

My 5g hexagon, hasn't a spot of algae anywhere.

Any reason I can't grow algae?

Ha ha I had this very problem, then boom

Once it starts you will wish you never asked.

Mine seemed to take a while to kick in then stepped up a gear. Just getting it under control now, wasnt too bad but a little is enough to annoy .... (or please I guess depending on your standpoint)

Set it in the sun for 1/2 hour a day.

How bright is the light?

I guess it would be considered a medium light for the size. Supposed to be 15w equivalent 65 lumens. 8800k spectrum. (looks like the highest I can find now on the website is 6100k in this style)

It grows my plants and "betta bulbs" like nobodies business.

Hmmm. Well, you have accidentally stumbled across what 95% of this forum is looking for. Congrats.

Seriously, if you want some algae, since it is such a small tank...move it to a place where it gets an hour of direct sunlight. If you move it, algae will come.

I really don't have any algae in my tanks and never really have, other than a bit of hair algae in the java fern now and then.

The key for me is low light! I am a firm believer in it!
