Check Valves??

How many do you need and why dont they work?

I have 2 check valves on my bubble counter. Every morning there is water in my line almost to the bubble counter. The line is 5 feet long from the counter to the reactor. Why do I have water in my line everyday? I could maybe see a little, but not most of the line.

Also does the working pressure matter. I am currently running at 30psi into my rex reactor. Too much? or does make a diff.?

the ones built into the bubble counter NEVER work. All you need is a plastic inline valve, or a metal one if you want.

I like the metal check valves, those work with a little spring that holds a ball bearing into a "seat". They seal really well, as long as you don't get garbage into it.

And I don't think there's such a thing as "too many check valves". I've got 1 at the tank's rim, 1 at the flow meter, and 1 at the regulator. A check valve is 5-10 bucks, a regulator is $100-500.... Easy math for me.

previous, similar thread:
check valves in co2. do they cause restrictions and how many do you use?

There are 2 types of people on this forum. Those that have algae, and those that lie and say they don't.

Anybody have inconsistent bubble counts. Meaning you count 1,2,3, then there is a small burst of 3or4 bubbles so fast that you cant count them, then is is right back to 1,2,3... it continues to do this but you don't know when the next little burst will be.. Makes is real hard to count the bubbles. I'm being told that it is a problem with back pressure in with my reactor.

Anyone??

thats 3-4 bubble per 4-5 sec. most people aim for 1 bubble per 1 sec
everytime you count 1 one bubble should pop.
