rimless glass tanks ---where to buy

wanted to buy a allglass rimless from great lakes but shipping to NJ is over $500.00 almost what the tank cost --does anyone know of a rimless manufacturer in the NJ--NY area?

What size tank?

There should be several shops within an hour or two of you that have a variety. (If they have them in Louisville, KY, I know they have them in your region)

I ordered mine from glasscages.com
They have standardized sizes "in stock" but can custom make anything you want including your choice of glass type (starfire etc...). The shipping is very reasonable, for a very interesting reason. They send trucks out all over the country to deliver and you just see which dates they are in your town and you meet the truck there on that day. Crazy, huh? Sounded sketchy like a back alley meth deal but it actually worked really well and I promise you, you will see custom tanks on that truck that blow your mind.

I used to frequent reef forums where users had only terrible things to say about glass cages

The LFS in Florence, SC used to make his own tanks. I'm sure someone local to you could do it too.

as far as i know, you really just need to find a glass shop that is confident in their abilities. worst comes to worse, just opt for thicker glass! it's really all in the silicone job. right?

I saw the criticism too, then I started to notice a large majority of the negative comments came from people who didn't have one from there but they "heard" about problems. I thought the price was right, they do custom sizes and I'm reall happy with the build quality. The "delivery" method is unconventional to say the least, but I think they will also ship via a carrier but that's way more expensive. Go with your gut, though. If you do your research and a place sketches you out, go with somebody else.
