Agreed, Plantex CSM+B is the better choice of the two. And micros=traces.

10 gallon acrylic fw planted. 6 neon tetras, 1 GBR, 3 Amano shrimp, 2 nerites, 1 BNP, Eheim Classic 2211, Finnex Planted+ 17W LED, Hydor ETH 200W In-Line Heater, InkBird temp controller.

10 gallon aquaponic setup, hydroponic basil, 8 HET rasboras, RCS, red ramshorn snails.

Hello oz...

By definition, the two are identical. Both names refer to small amounts of chemicals an organism needs to maintain good health. The words micro and trace mean about the same thing.

Yes, traces is the same as micronutrients. But I don't think Flourish Trace is the equivalent of CSM+B, that would be regular Flourish. (I've noticed it referred to as "Flourish Comprehensive" on the forums).

I'm dosing EI (more or less --I start with EI and tweak it from there), using dry ferts for N, P, and K, but using Flourish for micronutrients, as well as Flourish Iron. I have no logical reason for using Flourish instead of CSM+B, except that when I switched to dry ferts I still had a lot of Flourish I wanted to use up. And then, things seemed to be going so well, I was afraid to change anything. So here I am, years later, still doing the same thing. Silly, I know.

The CSM+B is alot less expensive. It will also last you MUCH longer then the Flourish will. Also if you look at the concentration levels, The Flourish is largely alot of water in the bottle. So this is also why the CSM+B is a better buy. You will get great results out of the CSM+B.

This also means you add small amounts of it into your tank. I've read where people add micros until their tank water has color afraid the plants didn't get enough iron!
