Aquabid Question

Hello friends,

Not sure if this is the appropriate place for this post but I figure it was a starting point.

I was looking into possibly purchasing some CRS off Aquabid and a few ad's I noticed this:

"PAYPAL accepted, please add 3.5% to the total to cover the fees."

Why would I be responsible for the fees as a buyer when the seller should be? I am not an expert in this area but if you want me to pay 3.5% then why not just add that to your asking price?

What am I missing here?

Right or not, it's pretty common. As for why it's not just added to the price, you can't add 3.5% without knowing the final price of an auction.

I'd just take it up with the seller if it's bothersome to you.

It's a bid, how can you add 3.5% to a price that is yet to be final? You can also pay by bank transfer or western union, in which case you will pay a fee when you go do it to make sure they get the final sale price as the exact amount. Paypal takes their money from the receiver, not the sender, so you have to add that amount to make the final sale price what you bid. If you send money to them, the fee's are on the sender in that case, but either way, you pay.

Edit.

I just went to Western Union to see, to send $250, they want $24, so almost 10%, so doesn't the 3.5% sound better?

Thanks for the feedback. I was uncertain to the additional fee's and how it was broken down.
