Yes it's a good thing. They're photosynthesizing. Those bubbles are oxygen.

Curious question.......

When does this occur? After a water change? Do you have a picture of your set up? What about the potential for air being pushed around current getting trapped in the plants.. Not saying you dont have pearling. Just never heard or seen anyone say they have it without Co2.

It was after a water changed...bummer.But only I changed 5 gal on a 55.At first I thought it was bubbles from the return line.It was clearly coming out of the nodes, steady stream.Very cool lookin!Does it mean this wont happen every day? Does it only happen at a certain time in the light cycle,or all day?Ill be watching VEEERY closely today.

It happened because of the water change. That's not pearling though. And it won't happen every day on its own in this case.

There are a lot of gases in tap water. I think the water company does it on purpose for some reason.

Some of the gas can be CO2, the pH of my fresh tap water is lower than water that has been sitting out for a while so at least some of the gas is probably CO2. It is possible that the bit of CO2 in the tap is enough to cause true pearling in your tank if your plants are healthy with an appropriate amount of nutrients available to them.

Sounds good, just do lots of water changes? Well maybe not. I read that fluctuating CO2 is a cause of BBA and low tech tanks are better off with fewer water changes so the high CO2 content of tap water doesn't trigger BBA growth. Here is a synopsis of Tom Barr's method, might be in there somewhere.
