How many plants are to many?

Im officially addicted I cant stop buying plants.For a 55 gal with no co2 and med light with a fluval 405 what should my plant/fish ratio be.Lots of talk about lighting and par but haven't seen much on this topic

There's not really a limit on plants, it's however many you want until they fill up your tank.

I though without co2 you can only have a certain amount of plants offset by the number of fish or the plants will suffer from lack of co2

If you use CO2 "too many plants" means the water circulation in the tank is brought to a halt by the plant mass. That is what you try to avoid by pruning often.
