Price of Rummy Nose

I was at an LFS today and saw rummy nose tetras 12 for $15. That struck me as being a particularly sweet deal. It was a shop that I believe only takes cash, of which I had none, so I'm seriously considering going back and getting a dozen of them tomorrow. BTW, they were $1.50 each or 12 for $15. Should I hop on it?

It depends on if the LFS properly quarantines their fish. If yes, then it is a VERY good deal.

There is a LFS in SF that sells them 6 for $5, but death rate from that store is VERY high.

I think I know which store you're referring to, Sha. By the time that you're done, you'll actually end up w/a $10 rummy.

Usually they're around $3 per at the store; I get them for around $1.50 each.

I've never bought fish from the store I went to today (it was a new one to me). I may have to gamble the $15 and see how it goes (housing them in a Q-tank of course until I see how things are going to go).

I get them from Rosedale Mills, I dont know if that's a chain, but they run at $1.29 a fish, and out of every ten or so, one dies. Its an awesome deal. THey also have neons for 99 cents, but they usually die one a day until 2 are left.

There's a place here in Davis, CA that sells neons for $0.99 also and Cardinals for $1.29. There's also deals if you buy more than one (4, 5, etc). Not sure if they carry Rummynose. I'll have to check, they're neat fish.

Umm, here we get 10 for $38HKD (if I remember right). That's $4.8 USD for 10...yes that's right, about 50 US cents per fish.

Neon Tetras are cheaper. They cost about $9 USD for 100 yes ONE HUNDRED (9 cents each). Though I spent $50 HKD for 10 neons to get some really healthy nice ones, which is $6.40 USD (64 US cents each).

Today I bought 4 ottos for $15HKD ($1.9 USD or $0.50 USD each) is that cheap?

The PetNotSoSmart ones I bought last year for my 50 did the same thing. Bought 10 but now I have one lonely neon in there with 4 adult angels and 3 paradise.

Where I live, at least it goes like this. The pricing of fish vary a little from place to place and from condition to condition. Most people are too ignorant, uninformed and (sorry) dumb to notice the difference between the good ones and the bad ones. Neon goes for $ 0.10 each, full sized ones is $ 0.20 each, buying a school can be lower at $ 0.07-0.08 each. Rummy nose is higher at $ 0.18-0.20 each. Cardinals expensive at $ 1-1.5 each.

I say the pricing you get are unbelieveably cheap for a place like hongkong! It is one of the most expensive lands in the world. Those fish must have come from mainland farmers that they are dirt cheap.

Compared to Indonesia, Hong Kong is expensive. But compared to most of the western world, I'd say most things are cheaper. I come from Australia and things here are generally much cheaper. It is expensive to buy/rent housing here, but goods are pretty cheap...but not as cheap as Indonesia.

yes, I saw these baggies on the street filled with neon fry. The bigger they were the more costly there were. I wish I could live in Hong Kong so i can get the cheap and abundant fish products in Mong Kok.
