zacheyp's 2.5 gallon betta!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sooo i went to Petco to explore my betta tank options. I have explored betta soroitys and 5 gall comunity tank but that really didnt seem to be a good idea. The store had a mini bow, but i really like the standard 2.5 gallon 12x6x8 tank. I would use an aquaclear 20. The only problem is i cant find a hood, could you possibly help.
I really want to keep some good looking plants (the key to a cool nano tank) a kick but betta and snail and maybe some shrimp. Again if i can find a hood this tank will be up and cycling in no time.
Thanks

Didn't you say that you've already bought the 5 gallon? I would avoid the shrimp. In a 2.5 they won't have far to run from the betta

Ok well, you probably won't be able to find a hood that small. Just get a light and you'll be fine. Might want to get a glass cover for it as well or just cover it with something so the betta doesn't jump out. You'll want a small heater as well for the betta. Once again, in a tank that small, the shrimp will become betta food

Unless you have a huuuuge tank, I dont think shrimp are safe anyway. My little 5.5 is somewhat packed with plants, nooks and crannies and I dont see a bit of baby shrimp from my betta. Depends on your guy. Amanos should be safe since they are big. Ghost shrimp, and the "orange bee" and blue/blackberry shrimps from petco are all bigger than cherries.

You might want to get some Amazon frogbit. The roots will reach far down into the tank, so you can have them cover the whole surface. But your betta is going to love you for a few floaters.

Doubt you'll find a hood anywhere for standard 2.5g tank. Either use a glass lid or get the minibow if you want a hood.

I just dismantled my 2.5g minibow yesterday and moved my betta over to a 5g minibow.
