does anyone know if cyano will die if out of water and allowed to dry?

i have two tanks that have cyano in it, i want to take the gravel out and use it in a new build. or should i just purchase new substrate?

You could probably kill it with h2o2 but it would take allot of the stuff to treat a bunch of gravel or (a bleach solution and then do heavy dechlor treatment to clear up the bleach).

Also if you have it and it just showed up it will show up again. Better to figure out how to solve it, some have killed it in tank with h2o2 but that is providing that it does not have conditions that allowed it to thrive again, also others have used antibiotics (worth reading about). I have had the stuff in my 10 gal and managed to kill it with h2o2 and then moved up to a 20 long and have seen a bit of it in the first couple of weeks but no sign of it after killing it with h2o2 it seems it strikes when things are out of balance(newly setup in my case) and it thrives and then goes either dormant or hard to find and if conditions improve for it here it come again.
