Moving tank... long distance.

Well next month My 29 gal, fully stocked tank, is moving (with my girlfriend) to a new home about 45 min from their present location.

My question is, how long does the good bacteria in the gravel and filters last without circulation? Would there be enough bacteria surviving the 45-50 min ride with the gravel in a bucket? In a canister filter?

Should I stock up now on a pack of biospira?

The bacteria should be fine provided that they stay wet. I had no problems after a three-hour power outage.

Where are you moving to?

My girlfriend is the one moving (no room at my place so its stayed with her). She's moving from Novato to Suisun City (past Vallejo).

Thank you.

Supaoopa,

if you're worried you could always get a cigarrette lighter power adapter for her car and plug in an airstone, pump or something. If you are taking fish, it might also help? but don't quote me on that one.

Just a thought.
