Aquarium Tops

Hey Guys,

Im fairly new with aquarium plants but feel that I have a grasp of the basics. One thing I was not sure about is the acrylic top I have over my tank. Its a marineland 29gal bow kit with an upgraded light. t5 HO 2x24

The kit came with the top which I am using. Is it advisable to keep a planted tank covered? Im assuming it affects gas exchange?

I have small children so them throwing things in is the primary concern.

As long as there is a little bit of access to the outside air and the surface of the water is being agitated, you are fine. Up until recently I have always used tops on my tanks including tanks with plants and never had an issue.
