Aquascaped Clown Loach Tanks...

Hi.

We are planning on doing a large, aquascaped clown loach tank in the early summer.

I was wondering if anyone has one, and if you can give advice specific to keeping a good looking planted tank with loaches.

The sorts of things I am wondering about:

Substrate: Many of the popular ones are, I think, simply too light to withstand loaches nosing about.

Root structure: Are there any carpeting plants with good enough root structure to withstand loaches?

Anything else that you can suggest/experiences you can relate would be appreciated.

Carpet plants are out.
Go for deeply rooted plants. Give the plants a head start to establish before you add the loaches. Make sure to give them a big tank 75+G.

any sword from dwarf to amazon and common crypts do well in my tanks with them
they do break the didiplis diandra when the patch gets real thick
Stems like bacopa and L Reopens do well too.
3 Gold Dojo and 4 Clowns but they are still only about 3"
