2 Months in, just did a large trim, hows it look?

Hi guys,
I just sold off about 45 stems from this tank today, which was great since it has needed to be thinned out desperately. I'm getting an order of some L Aromatica and a few other plants that I need to make room for. So i figured I'd take a few pics and show the progress its made in a few months. I really have never been happier with the look, and I cant wait for the rotala to bounce back from the large top cut.

Specs on this tank are as follows:

Lighting- 4 19w cfl's at 5000K inside clamp work lights, 11.5 hours a day

Filtration- ehiem 2013, AC 70

CO2- 20 lb pressurized diffused with needlewheel pump on closed loop. Timed 1 hour before lights on and off.

Ferts- Ei dosing, 1/16 tsp CSM +B, 1/4 tsp KNO3, 1/16 tsp KH2PO4, 1/16 tsp K2SO4. Root tabs under the swords to keep 'em happy.

Fish- 10 assorted danio, 16 neon tetra, 2 glow light tetra, 1 silver tip tetra, 1 black phantom tetra, 1 white cloud minnow, 2 red flame gouramis (one isn't acting right though), 2 otto cats, and 2 ammano shrimp.

Plants- H. Difformis (wisteria, far left), Echinodorus argentinensis (Argentine sword, front left and back right), microsorum pteropus (Java fern), myriophyllum pinnatum (milfoil, back right), Rotala rotundifolia (middle back), anubias nana? (middle front), Eleocharis acicularis (Dwarf hairgrass, front right), unknown plant front middle/left in front of wood.

Enjoy:

Before trim^

After trim^

Thats the unknown plant to the right of the sword ^ Any ideas?

DHG filling in nicely, you can see new stems along the glass and between the clumps. These were planted in clusters of 5 or less stems about a month ago.

What do you all think? I'm all ears for suggestions!

Matt

Hey Matt, the tank looks Great! Everything looks like its growing fine, Glad your DHG is taking off. I like the fact that your doing it with cfls, I used them for a while and thought they did a great job. Is your substrate just the white sand? And is this a 30 gallon tank? See your in NH whereabouts?

Very nice and good use for those clip on, work lights. How big is the tank? Surprise that I didn't see any BBA or staghorn algae.....Your lighting seems so white or your water is that clean and clear...

Thanks! I'm really happy with the results I've gotten with the cfl's, and especially the pricepoint!the substrate is white playsand, washed about a million times.... Yep sorry it is a 30 gallon.
Thanks for the kind words!

Your tank looks....ok. Really needs some algae. I would highly recommend some hair algae, in fact, lots of it and then for the final touch, get the water to turn green, then you will have created perfection....ok I'm jelouslooks great

Razor- I'll work on that and get back to you But in all honesty, I don't know the secret, I think I have just had good luck so far. This is my first planted tank, and I certainly did a ton of research about it, but I am still surprised I haven't had any big algae outbreaks. I guess it just comes down to a good supply of co2 and other nutrients to meet your lighting level.

Thanks for the humorous compliment though

O.K. NOW I can lavish the praise. It's really come a long way!

I've looked at you lights before I don't remember are they CFLs or LED PARs?

I like the look of the lights , kind of utilitarian . Form follows function for sure in this case.
