Exclamation Custom 55 gallon king size bed aquarium!

Hey folks!
Im 18 years old and Im a totally new to the planted tank world. I built this spectacular king-size bed headboard that fits a 55 gallon in it and I must say so myself it came out amazing. I want the tank to look amazing as well but I know just about NOTHING about planted tanks. I would love to learn the ways. PLEASE someone help me out. Im moving this badboy in to my new place in about a month and I would love to get started with the preparation process.

-much appreciated, Anthony

That's a fantastic idea, but I would want it at the foot of the bed, where I could see it! lol

Thanks guys. Yea I plan on having Tiger barbs, black tetras, tri-color sharks, rainbow sharks, iridescent sharks, and other than that im not sure. i definatly want an odd arangement of fish. And for substrate, i wanted to go with just straight dirt capped with nice light sand in random spots and ALOT of hair grass. i also just finished boiling a wicked piece of wood i picked up along the river.

i thought about the footboard but i feel like this is more of a viewing point from the rest of the room. i have a couch which is basically across from this. once the room is all put together ill have plenty of pictures up! ive been waitin for my sister and her boyfriend to move out for a VERY long time haha. Im counting down the days now.. 10 MORE DAYS

Great choice of stain color - the black will make the colors in the tank pop! I like the way you antiqued the trim, too.
I guess I have lazy tiger barbs, but mine have never bothered anything else in the tank - I have some in a 40b with neons, harlequins, black tetras, rosy barbs, guppies (I hate them - lol) and a cory. Maybe the key is having enough barbs that they keep to themselves?
You need to start a journal on this so we can all subscribe!
