What kind of wood is this?

And where can I get some? I'm setting up a tiny African biotope for my African dwarf frogs.

Not sure about the top pic but the bottom is Manzanita. You could probably collect some locally. If not, there are some folks in the powerseller forum that can help you out.

Are you sure that is manzanita oldpunk? Looks more like some of the malaysian wood aquariumplants.com carries.

Like 95%. There's acres of it behind my house.

I can't find the thread, but the first picture reminds me of a DIY driftwood someone did in this forum. He used metal wires and coated it with "x" material and then coated it with even more "x" sealer.

The guy is a member of this forum and many others, he posted a bunch of pictures of his build.

Currently out of the hobby

Rich from manzanita.com says it's not manzanita ): I haven't seen anything like this in local stores, none of them sell anything branchy.
