Question bloodworms and brine shrimp - eewwww!

My friend gave me two cubes each of frozen bloodworms and brine shrimp to try - I've never bought them before. The brine shrimp went over just so-so, but the bloodworms created feeding frenzies! lol Those bloodworms made my belly flip - I can't believe I grew up on Long Island Sound, fishing most of the year & baiting my hooks with sand worms up to 9 or more inches long! lol (and those suckers had some fierce pincers!) I have become a wuss . I gotta toughen up - lol
How often do you treat you fish to such things? I've been feeding flake food all this time. On top of it all, when the treats were all gone I realized I forgot to give any to the poor neons that have been in QT limbo forever. I'll get 'em next time!
What's involved in raising your own bloodworms? There are tons of DIY articles on brine hatcheries, but I'd be more interested in the worms. What other goodies do you feed to your community tank fish?

I buy a lot of forzen foods, tubifex, glass, daphia (water fleas) blood worms, brine shrimp etc... the only down side is when I do feed them flake food... Well if fish had fingers I would be number one haha. If you dont like the frozen, can always try the freeze dried. I have even seen articles of people cutting up fresh zuchini and squash even some lettuce for some species of fish. Guy here locally during the summer sets out buckets of water for mosquito larvae to feed his.

I got caught up for a long time in the old "these are tank fish I have to give them this and that" in actuality there is tons of stuff to feed them!

I don't really mind the bloodworms, and the coolest part was swirling the bit of water around and watching it come apart ; )
No wait, the coolest part was watching the fish tear into it! ; )
I'd like to raise & freeze dry my own - I'll have to read up on it. I can see I'll have to cruise the frozen food section next time I go to Petsmart...(which will be tomorrow, I need cat food - and yes, my cats flip me the bird with their tiny fuzzy fingers every time I fool them & crinkle the treat bag when it's really time for meds -lol)

Well, I always wanted to be a Mad Scientist like the ones in the old movies I watched as a kid. I don't suppose it helped much that my dad was the same way, and loved having me as a co-conspirator! (my mom was not as adventurous - lol) I AM the wife of the house, and I rule - LOL
