seeding noodles...

Hi, a quick question, i have been reading etc, and realise that when I get my shrimp, I will be best to keep them in a tank on their own, until they multiply a bit (or a lot) so a question arises, I have a spare tank, however the noodles will have died, can I put some noodles in an existing, working tank, to start them off? I don't want to put them in the filter, just in the tank itself ( I was thinking of putting them in a stocking, and tucking them up the back of the tank... will this work?

I can then fill the new tank with water from the existing tank, and hopefully seeded noodles, and then I shouldn't need to cycle the tank? for too long?

Don't bother adding water from an existing tank. The bacteria that cycle the tank only grow on solid surfaces, so you only need to add seeded filter media. Adding water from an existing tank will probably just add unnecessary nitrate.

You don't have to add filter media; you can add substrate (sand/gravel) from an existing tank and that will work just as well. Check out this thread:
