Energy efficient bulb disposal

I'm not sure if everyone is aware of this, but since many people are using CFLs, florescent tubs and other energy saving bulb I thought I'd mention it. Many of these bulbs contain mercury and other elements that aren't very good to be around. If you cut yourself with a broken bulb you can get mercury poising and nasty stuff like that. You also don't want to use a vacuum to clean up any broken bulbs because it just spreads mercury dust throughout the air. It's better to carefully sweep up and properly dispose of. I do believe that T5s aren't as bad as some of the others, but don't quote me on that.

Just wondering, where does everyone dispose of their old bulbs?

Oh, THANK YOU for this information! Hubby has been trying to sneak 2 4foot bulbs into the garbage and I keep pulling them out. This, after I caught him standing over one with a hammer so it would fit in the garbage better . They've been floating around the garage for a month now.
