a fish hit me in the head!!

i was feeding my fish the other evening and i left the hood open while i was bent down, looking in the cupboard under the tank.

all of a sudden something wet hit me in the forehead!!

i looked down to see a blue tetra laying on the floor. he wasn't flopping or anything, just laying there. i stood there a second looking at the fish trying to get over the shock of it all!

i got out my net and chased the fish around the floor a little before i finally got up the nerve to actually touch it to "encourage" it to get in the net. he finally got back into the tank and was swimming around covered in dog fur for a bit.

stupid fish!

i know! that was the funny part. the whole hitting me in the head part kind of p'ed me off for a bit! haha!

he seems to be perfectly fine. he kind of floated on his side for about 20 seconds and then flipped back upright and continued eating. i am guessing he won't be so "enthusiastic" when he is eating any more. ha!

funny thing is, i was planning to switch the fish over to my new rimless tank the next day but i didn't have a lid for it at the time. i was thinking they would be ok without a lid for a day or 2. that really changed my mind

That's funny! I have a Betta that pulls similar antics at feeding time...never landed on me though.

Maybe it thought your tank looked bigger so it jumped in with you.

i had just fed them and the blue tetras like to zoom to the top of the tank as fast as they can and flip back around to go back down while they grab some food. i am assuming he was just overly excited about the food and didn't flick back around in time. silly fish!

i am switching the tank over today! yay! they are going to be upgraded to a new 31 gallon rimless tank so super excited! (they are in a 20 gallon tank now)
