Pearling mystery

If the tank is nutrient poor, does plants still pearl?

The reason I am asking is trying to see if pearling = plants thriving?

I am still waiting for my LFS to get the nitrate and PO4 test kit for me. That also means I have no idea if my tank if nutrient poor or have I over dosed my tank.

Suppose the tank is lacking NO3 and PO4, and probably K as well, but the tank got plenty of light, CO2, and there are no surface agitation. Would the plants still pearl (Would the tank reach O2 saturation)?

It might for a while, until the plants run out of stored nutrients. After that the plants will begin to starve and begin to show signs of deficiency over time. Some plants will show deficiency quicker than others.
