Setting up 125g suggestions please

I am getting closer to setting up my new 125g. It will be moderatly planted with angles, 1 arrowana, bristle nose plecos, and a colony of shrimp.

1. I plan to use pool sand as substrate. Should I mix anything with the pool sand to help the plants out or will the sand be okay as it is. I do plan to use root tabs as well as excell. (anything else you think I should use?)

2. As for lighting I will be ordering my T5 next paycheck. I plan to use this: http://www.catalinaaquarium.com/stor...oducts_id=1173

3. I would like to use co2 but it will have to wait until there are more funds, will the tank be okay without co2 for a while or am I going to have any problems? If so what can I do to remedy any problems before they start.

BTW as for plants I'm looking to mostly SA plants as to keep the angles and arrowana closer to home.

If there is any more info needed LMK. Thanks in advance
I have been doing alot of reading/seraching on here as to keep my questions to a min.

Although i have never had one personally, I thought that an arro could get up to 3-4' in length and be kinda aggressive. Seems every time I've seen one it had it's own tank that was much larger than a 125 gallons. Anyone out there have any first hand experience? As for your questions, the only one I can answer with any experience is about the pool filter sand. When I had my 75 gallon I used it with just some root tabs every few months and it worked great. I'm sure there are some other things that may be helpful as well, but that's all i used. Good luck with the new tank!

i suggest you do a lot more research on arowanas. they really need at least a 300 gallon tank (bigger is better) and aren't something you take lightly. they also won't be compatible with the fish you have listed. i know some people keep them in smaller tanks, but i'm not an advocate of cramming fish into the smallest tank they can live in.

Oh I've had the arrow with 4 angles for over a year now, I know I wont have him forever but he'll be okay till he outgrows it and goes to a friend. I won't cram or overcrowd them. When he outgrows it he won't be replaced.
Any thoughts on the tank?
