question for DIY co2

I am using the 2 liter bottle with silicone tubing. Do most of you use those nylon model airplane screws in the cap,or do you just run the tubing straight through the cap and seal it up.

The easy way and best way is to drill a hole in the cap that is about 1/32" or so smaller than the tubing diameter. Then cut the end of the tubing at a sharp angle, and use needle nose pliers to pull it down through the hole. That makes a perfect seal, so no sealant is needed.

That's what I did when I used diy c02 and it worked perfectly. Even though my room sometimes smelled like yeast So sealing it might be a good extra precaution.

Another option is get a rubber stopper from home depot, and drill a hole through it, and use rigid tubing through the stopper. You can get the flexible tubing through the stopper as well, but it is more difficult. I have always done it this way with great results. This also avoids the problems of screwing the cap on with the tubing, which means screwing the bottle into the cap.
