Noob CRS question

Hi, so i think have a good understanding of high tech planted now so wanted something new. So i started a 13.5g iwagami. It is about to finish its cycle and plan to put CRS in. Obviously i have checked all the basic parameters but i have never kept shrimp before.
Are there any tips you can offer about keeping shrimp?? Food?? Breeding?? etc.
Thanks all.

*edit* i will be putting cardinals in for a month first as i understand shrimp dont like really new tanks..?

Im in the same boat as you are and after a lot of readings, main thing is to keep the water condition right to keep them happy.

0 amonia and nitrite with minimal nitrate.
Acidic and Soft water is the preference with 21-25c temp... but must keep parameters as stable as possible as sudden changes can kill them
Make sure you have some places for them to hide too... dont keep with fish if you want to breed them... (Ottas are considered ok though)

dont overfeed them, as they can get what they eat if you have some plants or drift wood in the tank... otherwise, occasional boiled spinanch, zukinis, algae disc, and other food can be added... but any left overs after a few hours or overnight should be removed.

apparently they will breed if they are happy and healthy

but if this is too much efford, then red Cherry shrimps might be an option as they are more robust, and will breed very easily...

Go light on the co2; for an 11 gallon, approximately 1/2 bps should be your target.

Feed them a low protein diet that's predominantly plant matter.

Try to keep your gH stable. Sudden drops can be fatal, so you may want to start on the high side (around 8).

Keep an eye out for hydra.

make sure there is plenty of dissolved oxygen, either through an air stone or spongefilter or whathaveyou.

And, just because the parameters are stable and where they should be doesn't mean you're water is perfect for them, a bag of purigen or biochemzorb or somesuch will help ensure you have pure water with nothing in it we can't test for that can harm them.

I think the others covered anything else I would add
